5 Tips for Staying Safe During the Coronavirus

With the ongoing spread of awareness and concern regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we thought it would be important to review some of the basics of keeping yourself and your family safe. So we have racked our brains and developed five tips for staying safe during the coronavirus; check them out below.

Stay Home

To many of us, this seems like the ONLY option, however, to others they may feel like, ‘What’s the big deal?’ Well, to put it bluntly, everyone isn’t concerned with you as an individual getting sick (Don’t get us wrong, we don’t want anyone to get sick), but rather, the number of people you could potentially infect if you were to contribute to spreading the virus. That is why it is very important to stay home as much as possible, and if you must go out for food or other necessities, make sure you are clean and take all proper steps to remain as germ-free as possible during your little adventure.

Be Careful What You Touch

When we say be careful what you touch, we don’t always mean the shopping cart at your local grocery store or the buttons on an ATM. We are referring to those and many more things, such as touching your eyes or mouth, for example. In general, you want to make sure your hands are clean before putting them anywhere near your eyes or mouth, however now it is especially true to pay close attention to important safety precautions. Always wash your hands before touching your eyes or mouth, and of course, when at a local establishment that many other people may touch, it would be a good idea to wash your hands and possibly wash whatever it is immediately you’ll be touching before touching it.

Time for Double-Time Cleaning

Unfortunately, unless you are essential in your job description, you are most likely stuck at home, where you and your family can spread germs throughout your home much faster than before. That is why, during this time of concern, it is very important to keep areas in your home as clean as possible to prevent the spread of any germs, not only the coronavirus. Work together as a team, assign daily tasks, and tackle them as a family. There is no doubt that this will be an experience that can bring everyone closer together, even if the functions aren’t always preferred.

Keep Your Distance

We’ve all heard the phrase “social distancing” repeatedly, so by this point, I think we understand how to keep our distance from others to avoid contracting unwanted germs. However, keeping our distance can sometimes mean objects that many other individuals may touch. So keep that in mind next time you use the handrail to walk down a flight of stairs in a public setting. Remember to wipe your hands off or avoid it altogether.

Pay Attention and Seek Help When Necessary

One of the most important tips we can provide about the coronavirus outbreak is to be aware of what is happening worldwide and in your local area. If you find out more and more in your area are becoming infected or showing signs of the virus, show extra caution if you leave your home. Also, watch your family members closely for signs of fever or congestion, keep tabs on any new symptoms or happenings whenever possible, and always remember to love one another, not only during these trying times.
